FAQ
In a culture that is unraveling at the seams, a corrupt political environment, and moral decline, what could possibly be more redemptive and revolutionary than the restoration of godly leaders taking a bold stand for righteousness at the crossroads of Main Street, Wall Street, and City Hall? Religious freedoms and civil liberties are being seriously undermined. Soon, we will not have the ability to reverse the trend. The restoration of the Biblical role of city elders has been one giant step in the direction of reversing this trend. God is not without a remedy. He will never be caught off guard or without a solution. The restoration and reemergence of the Biblical role of city elders is a critical structural part of that redemptive remedy. Every town and city in America need a City Elders Spiritual Governing Council.
City Elders is looking for people who love God and want to work to create a Christian culture in our homes, schools, communities and state. If you have a desire to get involved, we welcome the opportunity to speak with you about the organizations mission, vision, organizational structure, and the commitment you will be making. Visiting the City Elders website (cityeldersva.com) is the best way to find a local City Elders Council near you. Contact their leaders, begin going to their meetings, pray with them, stay connected with the members, and help make a difference. If you love God and our country, understand the spiritual decay in our communities, and are looking for a way to help rescue our culture … you came to the right place! If there is not a local City Elders Council near you, contact one of the state leaders and they will provide direction to help you get engaged.
City Elders is the biblical model of city governance—uniting church, business, and civic leaders as spiritual elders at the gates. The official City Elders training course will walk you through the various steps to learn about City Elders. First and foremost, you will learn how God designed His Church for an ACTIVE participation in local, state and federal government levels. You will learn that when Jesus described that the “Government rests on His shoulders”, He was referring to YOU, the Body of Christ, as He is the head! The first book to review should be the “Biblical Blueprint for Establishing Godly Government”, written by founder and President of City Elders, Jesse Leon Rodgers. The Blueprint includes chapters on how City Elders started, the role of City Elders, God’s divine design for government, spiritual warfare and civil government, how to start a council and action steps to move forward. Additional books are available in the “Training for Reigning” series written by founder Jesse Leon Rogers. Training videos are also available on the websites which will give you an additional deeper understanding of City Elders.
City Elders training books and videos can be found on the City Elders of Virginia website at cityeldersva.com, or the national City Elders website at cityelders.com. Your local Council should also be able to help you find these materials.
Thank you for your interest in becoming a member of City Elders! We are influential in our communities and successful in our endeavors because of our members. As you are attending local City Elders meetings begin studying the material listed above. Pray with the leaders and ask questions about membership. Becoming a member is a commitment to action and involvement. We can only make a difference if we are “,,,busy about our Father’s business”! Lastly, fill out a Membership Application and submit it to the leaders of your local Council.
If there is not a local City Elders Council in your city or county God may have selected you to be the catalyst in your community. Start by finding some like-minded spiritual, civic and business leaders and begin meeting and praying together on a regular basis. Obtain a copy of the “Biblical Blueprint for Establishing Godly Government” by Jesse Leon Rogers and review it with your team. Contact the state City Elders leaders for additional direction and make every effort to bring your core group to one of the weekly meetings at the state City Elders headquarters in Augusta County. The state leaders are also more than willing to come to your community to present information and speak with local leaders about City Elders. The time is NOW, and we welcome the opportunity to meet you and your team!
See “How do I start a local City Elders Council” above. The process is the same, and the Virginia City Elders leaders welcome the opportunity to help you get started!
